The holothurian (sea cucumber) genus Thyone appears to be a "supergenus" with about 66 species worldwide and is in need of urgent revision. Apparently the taxonomy and phylogeny of this group is very confusing bearing in mind that there are very few morphological characters and even far less molecular characters that we can rely on. It will be very interesting if someone can provide some recent literature references to this group which attempt to classify or distinguish species using these criteria. Any response will be much appreciated bearing in mind that the genus needs to be subdivided for easy taxonomic management.
