I need to compare Big Five Personality measurement. I had the Neo FFI with 60 items, but when I used it I always have weak reliability coefficient. So I need the other version of Big Five Personality Inventory
The NEO PI-R (same, revised) is a psychological personality inventory; a 240-questionnaire measure of the Five Factor Model: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to experience. Additionaly, the test measures six subordinate dimensions of each of the "Big Five" personality factors.
There are a number of instruments that will yield a five-factor personality profile. Actually, the NEO-FFI is the short version of the NEO-PI-R mentioned by the previous commenter. These are generally well-regarded, carefully constructed instruments. I'm surprised you're getting such low reliability coefficients. Could this have anything to do with your samples - the population you're studying?
One other option might be the so-called Big Five Inventory. I'm attaching a copy - the document also includes basic citation information. This is a 44-item scale, just slightly briefer than the NEO-FFI.
Another option might be to use the scales presented at the International Personality Item Pool. I'm attaching a link to the site. There are lots of scales there, including (of course) the Big Five. They're free to all, and have become fairly widely used for that reason. The site reports solid reliability figures. Personally, I don't love the items - they seem too "alike," not broad enough. But as I say, there are many folks out there using them.
You can also consider hitting up the International Personality Item Pool. It is a pretty amazing collaboration. They have a free alternative to the NEO along with information on how well their scales correlate with the NEO. I used it in my master's thesis because I could not afford the NEO. http://ipip.ori.org/
In addition to the measures listed above, the Ten Item Personality Inventory provides a very brief measure of all five. Because each dimension is just assessed with two items, the score reliability is generally lower, but it can be very useful as a very brief measure.
yes I did adaptation with the measurement, not just for language (I translated in to Bahasa) but I also consult with expertise in that field. my respondents were employments for Private company.
