Is there anyone working with hepatic stellate cell line, LX-2 or other established hepatic stellate cell lines? Which cell line is suitable for in vitro study of fibrogenesis?
There is the great review article which summarizes the HSC cell lines ( Immortal hepatic stellate cell lines: useful tools to study hepatic stellate cell biology and function? Jens Herrmann, Axel M. Gressner, Ralf Weiskirchen. 2007). We have worked with freshly isolated HSC and HSC-T6. It depends on the signalization cascade or pathway of your interest. I recommend to pay attention to expression of aSMA, collagen, metalloproteinases and their inhibitors to choose the right one for you study.
Thank you very much. It's very helpful indeed. I'm interested in studying the network of myofiboblast transdifferentiation signaling pathway, have you study any?
HSC-T6 cell line is fully myofibroblastic since it expres alphaSMA. But you can add TGFb1 to promote these signalling pathway. Anyway it is necesary to measure the expression of markers of transdifferentiation during the cultivation.
