Hi, I want to modify (conjugate some molecules) the backbone of Polycaprolactone-diols (PCL-diols) using Michael Addition reaction. Once the conjugation is done, I would like to 3d print the modified PCL-diol into scaffolds. I know from experience that thermoplastic polymers like PCL of high molecular weight (for eg. Mw~50,000Da) print really well.
However, commercially available PCL-diols are of very low molecular weights like 1250Da, 2000Da, 4000Da, 10000Da only. Hence, I wanted to know if anyone here has tried 3 printing scaffolds from low Mw PCL-diol and had success with it?
From most of the literature I come across, PCL-diol based networks work very well as injectable hydrogel platform, but can they be 3d printed via FDM based technologies (Solvent casting is not suitable for my application). I would really appreciate your help.
