I am working on thin film coating by the SILAR method. When we dip a glass substrate in a solution, very few ions in cationic solution or anionic solution get attached to a glass substrate. Is there any procedure for attracting more cations or anions to a glass substrate prior to deposition of thin film onto a glass substrate?
Have you considered treating the glass slip with a silane that either contains a negative or positive charge on it? For instance, you can deposition amino-propyl triethoxy silane onto your surface which will impart a positive charge to the surface, or a carboxylic or sulfonic acid derivative for a negative charged surface.
Stirring the solution or heating the solution some times helps. You may also try to improve the adhesion by treating glass substrates with chromic acid.

Its better to coat seed layer on it before going for SILAR method. That may help the adhesion and how much time you are dipping that one also matters.

I agree with P S S Chandrasekhar. Seed layer largely affects the quality of the thin film.
