I registered my animals by hand in an old-fashion open field, obviously there was no money for this kind of research. However, I compared different kinds of recording methods and found that some record part-body movements you would not necessarily want to have recorded. I suppose the same could happen with a touch screen devise. Nevertheless, I found a paper were they used a touch screen and this is perhaps helpful to you:
