we investigated a natural incidence of lead toxicity in livestock and chickens in 2010. we found high levels of some heavy metals including lead, manganese, chromium etc in almost all the tissues investigated, including meat for domestic consumption!!! Although we did not check eggs or embryos, but I feel it will be nice to know, therefore your proposed project might be interesting.
Generally heavy metals do not transfer from feed to eggs (see also attached paper). Possible exceptions are lipophilic alkyl or aryl mercury compounds heaving been used as fungicides in the 1960's. Also not much is known what happens is exposure is via the lungs. It might enter the bloodstream then also.
