Hello everyone,

I am trying to visualise retinal ganglion cells in horse whole-mounted retina with a Nissl-staining. However, a peculiar effect occurs when I try to mount the tissue with Entellan New, from the moment I put a drop on the tissue it appears to dry out completely (the pictures were taken moments apart). When the slide is put back into xylene it returns to normal, retrying to mount produces the same drying effect.

The problem does not seem to be with the Entellan, since it works perfectly for Nissl-stained sections.

I did not find any record of this phenomenon anywhere which is why I wanted to ask if anyone has ever experienced something similar or knows why it happens?

Thank you!
