I'm testing GelRed as an alternative to Ethidium Bromide. Although the bands have a relatively high resolution they appear to be quite wavy and not very straight.
Iv'e included some links of the gels the one which appears to be very wavy is stained with 10µl of GelRed and the other is stained with 6µl.
Gel Specs:
-1% agarose gel
-Run for 1 Hour
-Run at 100v

What running buffer did you use? Do you put the GelRed in the gel or in the probe or do you stain after the run? Since you use 10 µl of undiluted (?) GelRed I suppose you put it in the gel.
I add GelRed to the probes in a suitable dilution and sometimes get bands that have a little twitch at the end. I have also experienced "smileys" - bands that look like an upward curve.
To solve your problem I´d suggest the following: make sure the agarose is completly melted before pouring the gel, run the gel at lower voltage or try another running buffer.

I put the GelRed directly into the gel and I was using a new batch of TBE buffer. Thanks for the response i'll be sure to lower the voltage in future runs.
