I'm a high school student doing a project that requires measuring LPS. I know the kit is not super easy to use, and would like some tips to get accurate results. Thanks!
Hm... Actually... it is quite easy to use... the major tip I can tell you is to keep the timing between each sample (including the standards) as close as possible. And you have to have good/steady pipetting skills.
The major issue is actually guessing the correct dilution of your sample. These kits are made to detect low endotoxin levels... so if you are using a sample that has LPS added... you will need to work quite a bit just to get it within the range of the standard curve. But the LPS you use should have some data on the activity, and you can figure out a range from there. And if you are trying to detect endotoxin contimination of an unknown sample... and if there is no way to narrow a range... guess... and work your way from there.
Take a look at the protocol, they are available on line. And if there are anything that is unclear, post it on the forum. If I can't answer it... someone else will.
