Do you know of or have a survey that collects sexual orientation (i.e., LGB or "sexual identity") data from teens or older adults? I've been gathering some info on LGB questions broadly, so I'd like to add these to my list (I'll share with the group). Right now, just a survey name (and URL if there is one) would be fine.

Hi Matt - I am not sure I understand your question. Are asking for data from surveys? Or more that you are looking for how people typically ASK about sexual orientation? I believe that the Williams Institute there at UCLA actually has some documents about how the questions are typically asked, some of the nuances of the responses you get depending on how/what you ask, and what "best practices" are. You might want to look there (I think it might be in their 'demographics' section). The GENIUSS report also just came out from WI with best practices about gender identity questions as well (I think their sexual identity question best practices document is from a year or more ago). YRBS does measure sexual identity for 9th-12th graders - the question should be the same across states, but not all states use the module with that question. Here's a link to the survey: http://www.cdc.gov/HealthyYouth/yrbs/index.htm.
There is an interactive dataset on this site. Bear in mind the data are collected by grade, not age. This link takes you to an MMWR report on YRBS sexual identity data: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/pdf/ss/ss60e0606.pdf. It'll give you a sense of the survey, too.
Finally, the National Survey of Family Growth certainly asks about sex with a partner of the same sex. www.cdc.gov/nsfg. Excellent dataset, but you'll have to dig around.
Hi Matt - in Australia there is a National Survey of Secondary Students and Sexual Health (http://www.latrobe.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/576661/ARCSHS-SSASH-2013.pdf) and older adults are included in the Australian Study of Health and Relationships (http://www.ashr.edu.au/) which also has a focus on sexual health. There is also a survey of GLBT people called Private Lives (http://www.latrobe.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/180425/PrivateLives2Report.pdf).
