The increasing gnomonic distortion in  TKD patterns is obviously a problem which is not to be underestimated. The results are misindexings caused by wide bands which preferably appear for phases with small lattice constants so that specific band detection algorithms have been developed. An alternative would be the use of a horizontally positioned screen below the sample. Does somebody already have experience with such kind of detector arrangement? I wonder whether the supersaturation in the center and several other disturbing effects like overlaid spot patterns, partially higher order interferences, or high-indexed bands usually visible in CBED patterns only do not disturb? In long term I would also expect irradiation damages on the screen, especially in the enter.
