I would like to use the pediococcus acidilactici probiotic either alone or in a combination with Saccaromyces as feed supplement in horses. Which dose is more clinically usefull? and also for how long?
I dont know about horses, but in cattle there is a product called 'micro cell LA' which is used to prevent acidosis. it is a Lactobacillus acidophilus strain BT1386 and it proposed used is 500 millions CFU per head per day. Then for your how long question, it would depend on the desired effect o your probiotic strain... as probiotic will not colonise the intestine and hence only be transitory (usually cleared in 3 days afte stopping ingestion) you will have to administer them for as long as you want your effects.
