Weltje and Höss (2007) listed a number of chemicals (Cyproterone acetate, Benzylbutylphthalate, p-Nonylphenol, n-Octylphenol, Taxomiphene, Methoprene and Dichlorofarnesoate amd Precocene) that indicated such an effect. Thus I am mainly looking for chemicals other than the listed or your own experiences with the listed chemicals. Further information about possible mode(s) of action are greatly appreciated. During my pHD I with D. magna and found paea-tertiairy-pentylphenol to induce a combined masculinisation and reduced growth in favour of an early start of reproduction after short term exposure to normally lethal levels. However, the total number offspring did not alter. These results were only published in my thesis but not elsewhere. However, I did present them on a Setac meeting in Vancouver in 1998(?). When you're interested I can make a scan of the chapter of my thesis.

Dear Aziza, thank you for your reply, I previously got to know the interesting paper you mentioned (Novillo et el. 2005). As far as I know it was also cited in the review of Weltje and Höss (2007). Novillo et al. however mainly investigated changes in gene expression, while I am looking for changes in offspring numbers (such as observed by Weltje and Höss). Best regards, A
