You can determine glucose concentration change in external medium with yeast or bacteria by means of glucose-selective electrode or by ortotoluidine method.

Yes, there are many different methods to determine the uptake of glucose by organism:

One simple method would be to determine the initial glucose levels either by biochemical or enzymatic methods (GOD-POD) and then determine the glucose level thereafter at different interval.

The other method would be to use radio-labelled glucose and then determine the uptake by determining the radioactivity in control and test samples.
