Does anybody have experience with miRCAT cloning kit?

I am trying to add 3' linker to microRNA fraction. miSPIKE oligo should work as a size marker and a ligation control. I cannot see any ligated products on my gel. I see two bands, miSPIKE and the 3' linker. Is there a way to monitor the ligase activity without using miSPIKE or my microRNA?
