Dietitians are being asked to advise women with IBS if a low FODMAPs diet is appropriate while breastfeeding their infants. There is one study which found significant change in breast milk quality on lower carbohydrate diets, but none could be found addressing a low FODMAPs diet.

There is evidence suggesting that total calorie intake is lower when adopting this diet.
