The influence can be in the language choices (e.g. preference for English over native languages, mania to copy native English, mimicking lifestyles, craze about the emperor's native countries, i.e. the British Isles, following trends and cultural norms, considering them superior in terms of knowledge, education, science, innovation, technology or jobs locations, etc.

I think so.
Ex colonies have a strong cultural component embeded from ex dominating colonial class.
Culture does not change easily.
So the predominance of the colonial culture in lives, language and culture survives. Empiricallly it can be easily demostarted.

English is a world-language, it doesn't belong to UK or US. Mainly composed of Latin, Greek, German, French & many other words and being without gendered words it is the most easy European language due to these qualities it became now World's language due to having more than 90 % of all written books, articles, documents along with being language of science, tech, biz etc. Since all knowledge & more update knowledge can be found in English !
