At the end of the day, students will have to deal with other people once they graduate as well as during their studies.
Do you think including applied psychology basics like dealing with people and understanding people behavior in all degrees' curriculums will be of advantage?
Please share your opinions if why or why not.
We all should know the elementary rules of psychology, sociology and communication. But it´s impossible to integrate additional academic courses for these fields into all university studies. Either these courses will be very superficial and just have the extent of a short introduction. That would be ok and is already praticed in many trainings. Or in the case of detailed lectures in their curriculum the students will be easily overstrained with this additional requirements. Don´t overcrowd the young learners!
Psychology is essential for any course at the University. If one intends to teach he will need understand about learning, human development, lerning disabilities, evaluation of the teachiing process, group dinamics at school, mathematical thinking processes, language and discourse, That list can go on and on. But in a structured course, thesre topics can be taught in 3 to 4 subjects, depending on the course the student intends to take. Say pedagogy will need a lot more of psychology. Physics may need much less. Perhaps persepton, psychology of man in space and many others. In this case two semester would be ok, I think.

Dear @Khaldoon, I think that psychology has its place in any curriculum. As it was already was mentioned by dear colleagues, the importance of communication skills, business communication nowadays would not be possible without psychology. At my institution, we have included psychology through some subjects at different departments, but we do not have psychology as a subject itself. I do remember when subject "industrial psychology" and "psychology of work" existed over 25 years ago.

Thanks for the great insights. Even nowadays there are leading universities teaching msc courses in business psychology, organization psychology, HR psychology..etc. I am not sure if these should be isolated subjects or incorporated somehow in the curriculum of business, engineering...etc
However like Dr. Hanno said that we might be overcrowding the young learners that way.
Maybe one solution is adding these courses as electives for students who think they lack/need to develop their interpersonal/communication/behavior.. etc skills.
Yes, dear Hanno I agree with you. All the subjects can include these basic concepts into their teaching. Teachers should be well versed on these principles though and whoever intend to be teachers. We have to bring psychology more and more to our learning environments.
Yes, I think that psychology should be part of each degree curriculum unless the graduate ends up living with robots & machines while being isolated from humans which is, of course, a very low probability. When I was student, psychology used to be a compulsory course to all university students. Many of the ideas, I learnt, gave me advantages later on such as in dealing with aggressive or escapist persons among my students & others.

but as Vilemar stated, as an integrated reduced part of the "normal" curriculum. Just suggest you study physics, maths or chemistry. Where should be the time to add psychology?
Dear Prof. Hanno, When I was an undergraduate student (4 decades ago!) , psychology was among the university's compulsory courses. Other courses, such as chemistry, physics, and maths were also within proper places (may be faculty requisites or departmental requisites; compulsory or elective). Mind you, at present, students in my university do not study psychology at all unless they are specialized in that field.
I think it will be useful for students to learn psychology during his at least as a subsidiary course. The psychological awareness may help them to cope up with challenges in life with a lot of confidence.

may be you are right. But I think this creation of confidence is a matter of education in schools and by the parents.
