Some ancient scientist developed a technology to sharpen an iron rod. It was used in agriculture for tilling land to produce more food.
The same technology was used to cut the throat of some unknown persons by a soldiers in group fighting or war.
What can be done?
What will be the essence of our research and their utilization in the society if we don't find pragmatic ways of relaying the purposes of our scientific inquires?Research communication in general must be intensified as we teach research methodology in our universities to fill this often created void.
This is tricky !!! Isn't the funding from government meant for a purposes and that is for all !!!
Now, if research is done for commercial purposes then again it is meant for people !!
Next, there are people who do research just for papers , as long as they are not wasting resources , good luck to them ...
Purpose is evident but not work towards it ....
If there is no restrictions from the journal, then yes it is a duty for us to inform science. Best regards.
Science communications is two way street. We, as the scientists do inform community about our results and we do receive feedback about the application of our scientific results. Also, we must be informed about the need of society for our future acting in terms of better life!
I want to ask: How correctly is the question in the "need to be informed" part? In my opinion, I would ask differently: If society is so interested in science and scientific research, should this society ensure the attractiveness of scientists in such information? Why are scientists themselves without any moral and material support required to inform society about their research, and not vice versa, society should maximally stimulate the intellectual work of scientists with the goal of creating useful products for society. I think that here it is necessary to fully determine the relationship between scientists and society.
