I am reading you all with great interest. What lovely, wonderful question. ! And what lovely, great answers !!!
Yes, you are right, when you point out that both brains and emotion are important in the act of communication of knowledge.
George Stoica is absolutely right to introduce the importance of our listeners, our students. There would be no use for teaching, without the important component of students.
Hence, the importance of emotional offer, to drag the attention of our students brains.
Hence, also the importance of the use of brains in communicating knowledge, if we need the emotional attachment of our students to the issues we teach.
I should answer that we teach with the best of our human resources, to get the aim of producing results in our students' learning efforts.
Passionate teachers create an effective and joyful learning environment and increase learning potential of students. I agree with your statement about incorporating humor in teaching. please see the following quotes about joy and laughter in teaching:
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge".
~ Albert Einstein
"The wise teacher knows that 55 minutes of work plus 5 minutes laughter are worth twice as much as 60 minutes of unvaried work."

Like many dedicated teachers who are concerned about students, I teach with passion. And I do some simple innovations to develop learning materials that facilitate the learning of my students. Most of my research is on developing such learning materials. Thanks.
Usually, an instructor teach from heart with emotion. Circumstances may arise where any teacher can stuck withjust mechanically from neural impuse situation.
You have asked a very intimate question. I try to place myself, and, of course, because of being emotionally involved, as one of my students in the classroom.
Fried defines a passionate teacher as: “someone in love with a field of knowledge, deeply stirred by issues and ideas that change our world, drawn to the dilemmas and potentials of the young people who come into class every day” (2001, p.44). For a high quality student learning passion is indispensable
Passionate teachers are committed and dedicated to their schools and a good education achievement is an outcome of this commitment and dedication.
"The teacher can really teach if he's passionate about what he does"
~ Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev

Any communication without emotion is a disconnect. emotion gives warmth, empathy, compassion and belonging. A teaching excluding emotion can not be considered teaching it will be like passing on information. then a teacher can be replaced by a computer having video lecture or animation of subject contents.
Definitely I teach with emotions those positive ones, trying to share my knowledge with internat emotional balance and harmony, thanks to rationality involved into the process of interactions.
a succesful learning needs foundations named engagement and interactions. theoretically there are three dimension of engagement (emotional, Behavioral and cognitive) the balance of the three is accommodated by a tools named interaction. the point is balancing emotional, behavioral and cognitive value is important in reaching the success (besides the good supportive material and physical circumstances).
related to the fun and humor, it is good to be used in an instructional process. however, knowing the characteristic and condition of our students is also important. sometimes, some students found it hard to deal with humor for several reasons. so balancing the portion and knowing the good time for it is better.
In a scientific discipline it is very hard to say what it is right to do. But I think emotions should to be. Otherside everyone will think that you are not interesed to buy science.
