For my Post Graduate (Master & Ph. D)students I have prepared PPT and send before one day prior to lecture date and for Under graduate (B. F.Sc. ) students I have prepared digital softy copy of notes and after lecture it circulate among the Students.
Mostly, the material is electronically available. I do like to write more during the lecture, and students should write any flashing ideas comes from the lecturer experience. Usually, there is no problem with material.
Even though, several facilities are available, I prefer and even now deliver the lecture in the form of black board teaching. This gives the time for the student to understand, respond and memorize the diagrams, derivations and salient and important points to note down. Hence, I make my student to write from my lecture. However if the topics are not available, I will give hand outs in form of papers after explanation. New and complicated topics and animated videos will be taken care by giving power point presentation.
Lecture is indubitably an effective teaching style practiced by many teachers . However, the pedagogical utility of lectures depends mainly on the learners' ability in taking notes. Note taking has a great bearing on the effectiveness of lectures. Therefore, teachers should make sure that their learners have the necessary skills in taking notes.
O only teach doctoral students and all quizzes, notes, presentations with voice over are posted in an online system call FOLIO, which allows students and professors to post these things (per types of permission programmed by the professor). For instance students can submit their assignments online, view discussion posts, add discussion posts, but cannot change other students' discussion posts.
