I am analyzing some results and I find no increase in ROS production but cortical neurons die anyway. This is not the first time that our group struggles with these results. It is hard to explain cell toxicity without ROS production since it is the most "known" and accepted mechanism, at least in cultured neurons. So, now I am searching for literature with experiments that may have found a possible alternative pathway for cell death.
