I would like to know other plants different from the already commercially known, and establish if the major phytochemical content is related to their activity

thanks all for your contributions: actually I looking for those plants which are not in books, perhaps in data bases, endemic but not necessary, regional, that people used in folk personal care. Of course there are a lot (described also in the book I co-edited Fitocosmética) but looking for more traditional uses. Thanks you again!
In Poland (and perhaps all Central Europe) for cosmetic hair care Acorus calamus and Urtica dioica (roots and leaves) were traditionally used. Althaea officinalis - for oily skin care, angelica root for skin lightening, urtica dioica seed infusions for dry skin softening, Cydonia oblogna seed mucus (from soaked seeds?) for chapped lips. There is a lot of examples of this kind in XIXth and early XXth century young-housewife-guides. If you are intrerested in just let me know ;-)

The leaves of Lawsonia innermis Linn. are prepared into a paste and used to make attractive/decorative designs on the skin. This is popular among women in Northern part of Nigeria and to some extent among the women in South Western part of the country.
Lawsonia inermis and lawsonia alba are very much used in india for making designs on the hands and legs during festive occasions. They are also used to color gray hair and it is a very natural approach to color the hair. It is also known by the name 'henna' or 'mehandi' locally. Even in Malaysia, they are used for the same purpose.
Historically, henna was used for cosmetic purposes in the Roman Empire, Convivencia-period Iberia and Ancient Egypt, as well as other parts of North Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Near East and South Asia. It was also popular among women in 19th-century Europe. Today, bridal henna nights remain an important tradition in many of these areas.
