Students with special education needs have problems in foreign language learning. Applying compensation strategies and techniques they can be (and are) fully integrated among the groups of intact learners. We are trying to focus our attention on possible impact of CLIL on the results of SEN lerners.

According to Coyle et. al (2010), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a double-barrelled educational approach in which an additional language is utilized for the learning and teaching of both content and language . Differently stated, CLIL can be used for teaching a curricular subject through the channel of a language other than the one normally used by the learners. You have certainly broached up an interesting issue here by asking if CLIL can effectively be used for SEN learners whose education may be influenced by their disabilities. You can ensure that you link your learning activities and content to students' prior readings/experiences/local or societal issues to increase their motivation to learn. If you are dealing with mature adults, then ensure that these activities are very relevant to their work concerns and job performance. An example is attached of how we did for developing critical thinking skills using the debating strategy.
