I agree with Dr Ghulam Yaseen. The issue is not one of presentation. It is of passing the information more effectively. Person to person contact, in my opinion, is the best way of communication.
In the new reality with a pandemic, virtual conferences have become preferable. But live communication is better. But now many conferences are either postponed or held at the sites of Zoom, Metting, etc.
Naturally, we are used to conventional conferences seminars where one knows where to direct the speech to the present audience trying to capture their attention aided by facial expressions and physical movement. Speaking on air, has the feeling of addressing "ghosts" whose attention is scattered in different ways, extremely difficult for the presenter to know!
Between the two, I definitely opt for the conventional!
Presenting involves speaking to a specific objective, coordinating that speech with a series of images or slides that are designed to reinforce that objective, and measuring the outcome. Public speaking is a more generalized set of spoken communication skills.Mar 18, 2015

What is the difference between presentation and public speaking ...
Although there are many online platforms for presenting your paper, I think, it is easier to present a paper in physical conference than virtual conference. Because you have to do some multitasking during virtual presentations.
Both have positive & other less positive features that depend on the nature of the research that will be delivered & the nature of the researcher who will deliver the research. Thank you a lot for this interesting question.
I personally prefer physical conferences, since it allows me to interact better with scientific community. But virtual conference has also it's advantages.
In conference including physcial one pass to the member & creative information to the member which may also help them for their study & knowledge . In conference even in other areas of the knowledgeable topics may play a very important part for passing the knowledge & information to the members who may be specialized in their other subject .
I have not experienced on-line conferences ; only face to face only. However the on-line has the advantages during this pandemic as it eliminates the need to travel and be at a physical venue to attend the event. It also saves a lot of time and cost for everyone involved. ... Thus, an on-line conference attracts more people and is accessible to all without any geographical limitations.
Thank you for the interesting topic of discussion.
In my case, I find it easier to present a paper in physical conferences. In such places, when I am presenting the paper, I can have a look at my audience i.e. whether they are enjoying my presentation or rejecting it. When I see that they are enjoying, it I feel happy and motivated. When I see that they are not enjoying it, I know it is time for me to change the stance.
I virtual conferences, I feel that I am alone in this world. I cannot understand what my listeners are thinking.
Under the current circumstances, I find that presenting a research for a virtual conference is better in terms of safety and cost. Previously, we had difficulty in this matter, but now it has become easy.
I fully agree with Bushra Abdul Hamza Abbas. Virtual programs are better in terms of health safety in pandemic situation. They are cost-effective and convenient to organize.
Thank you very much for this interesting question! For me, it makes no difference which conference to participate in: real or virtual. Of course, live communication is always more interesting in reality. But in today's realities, in order to communicate with colleagues, they mainly use online services.
While most professional speakers would likely prefer to present, in person to an audience, some very shy speakers -- often those with little or no presenting experiencing -- might find virtual presentation to be preferable.
In general I find presenting in person much better than virtually due to the connection with the audience and the adrenalin burst. In the virtual world I have also made a number of presentations in VR which I would say I enjoy more than Zoom.
The aim of conferences is not only to present papers but most important is to share new ideas and thoughts on various topics. Virtual mode provide an opportunity for the participants who cannot bear the expenditure on travel abroad to present papers in international conferences. Physical mode provide an opportunity to interact with eminents during the conferences apart from presenting papers. If there is no pandemic kind of situation then physical mode is the preferable option.
In terms of presenting research article in conferences, I personally feel comfortable in physical conference. In physical conference it's a two way communication and at the time of presentation we get exact idea listeners interest.
From 2-4 December 2021 I have presented two research article in an international Conference through online mode. Everything was okay but there was lack of connectivity between presenter and listener.
In fact before Covid-19 pandemic and the concomitant lockdown and the global transfer toward online services we used to physically attend various scientific activities including conferences and present our papers. I think both physical and online presentations are useful in exchanging ideas and transferring scientific information and knowledge.
Both ways are feasible if its intention to reach its target audience is fulfilled. But sometimes virtual mode is preferred by scholars due to lack of funds.
There are lesser interruptions, better interactive presentation in physical mode conference. Moreover, no one can avoid disruption and missing of presentation in virtual mode conference due to common failure/non-availability of net connections.
Hence physical mode conference is more convenient and preferable than virtual mode when a presenter has the opportunity to present a in physical paper.
In situ. Less interruptions from Zoom attenders. Can present several items in one go if physically moving around the stage. Opportunity over several days to have various chats with other presenters and attendees.
The problem with zoom conferences if that you cannot feed off of the audience, therefore there is no feedback loop between the presenter and the audience.
Hi, it is a nice question. Every researcher has definitely met with such a challenge. I think the difficulty does not lie in the way how you present your paper, physically or virtually, but how mentally and psychologically ready you are, and consequentially you get rid of confusion and other distractions. my best wishes
Of course, the personal presence at the conference is much more useful.
It all depends on the aim of the conference partisipant. If he just needs the publication of abstracts, then the online conference meets this task. If he is interested in discussing his work, in establishing contacts and informal communication (it is not in vain that they say that a conference banquet is a very important part of the conference ...) - then an online conference does not provide such an opportunity.
If the main reports are still discussed somehow (very limitedly, but I have not yet seen an online general discussion that goes far beyond the scope of a specific report, however, this happens infrequently at regular conferences too), then there is practically no discussion of "poster" reports. At a regular conference, hundreds of conversations take place right next to the stands, it is almost impossible to transfer these online.
Both are easy, it's depends on you, if speaker and participatnts have lot of time and money, the physical presentation is best, but might be chance of less participatnts. Other side less time is required and more participatnts can listen your research work as well as no money is needed for arrangements and travelling.
Presenting a paper in a physical setting has no substitute as it gives a chance to interact with the audience in the real sense. Nothing is more irritating than a virtual presentation as one can get disconnected any time owing to unstable internet connection. Besides, the feel of interacting with a live audience is lost in a virtual presentation.
