There is a fierce controversy over food produced using gene technology (transgene food) in China currently. Some specialists insist that the transgene technology is similar to hybrid technology and obviously no harm to human, while some others doubt whether transgene food will influence the human reproduction or not.
A scandal was reported months ago that human experiments are conducted on pupils in Hunan Province, a central China province, without telling their parents enough information about those tests. Those experiments were proceeded by a professor from a US university, with supports from the local government.
In accordance to current regulations, a safety certificate can be awarded if the transgene plant have been tested for 5 to 7 years and seems to be safe to human.
Different newspapers report contrarily about the facts in other countries. Some journalists tell us that transgene foods are forbidden in Europe, while others says that transgene foods are universally mixed into traditional foods without any notice in USA.
What is the truth? Do you eat transgene foods in your country?
