Someone knows about a specific law or regulation which mentions the use of the rose bengal chloramphenicol agar is suitable to isolate and count fungi. Perhaps, someone has done a research about it. I'll be very grateful if you send me your paper.

We had used rose bengal chloramphenicol agar to isolate and count Aspergillus fumigatus from a variety of environmental materials (soil, bat guano, poultry excreta, etc.) in 1975. This medium works well. However, we did not publish any paper.Later, we developed Pal sunflower seed agar in 1980 as a differential medium for the isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans from clinical as well as environmental samples. We have published many papers on Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus and others. If you wish, you may please download our papers from the Research Gate.

In the field of plant pathology the use potato dextrose agar is utilized for fungal isolation and counts in many cases.
Potato dextrose agar is a rich medium that gives definitive colony characters which aid in the quick identification of specific fungi.
The role of bacteria antibiotic such as chloramphenicol is to suppress bacteria contaminants. Many use acidification as a method to do the same thing.
The counts require the serial dilutions and the individual colonies put into isolated and purifed condition.
For specific fungi, there are often specific selective media which can be utilized also.
Temperature and lighting can also be important for the usefulness of your methodology.
If you are targeting yeasts, it would be good to check this article before starting your work. Chloramphenicol was reported to have certain inhibitory effect on yeasts.
