Carotenoids are produced by most plants and algae, but also by some fungi and bacteria. However, some organisms produce more carotenoids than others, so I wonder if there is some study establishing in which kind of biome carotenoids production is more important in average? in ocean by algae? in soils in general? and if so, in grasslands, forests? Any hint on this will be appreciated. Thanks.
