For a research I'm doing I need a census database of people by city (of any country or state in the world), with names and occupations. I have been searching the web for a public database about this but I have unable to find one. It is not necessary for me that the information be up to date or not, it can be from decades ago. Any help on this is very appreciated.

Census data at the individual level contain sensitive information and can only be accessible through a direct and motivated request to the National Statistical Institute or other repository agencies in charge. In any case, even if you succeed to obtain individualized census data, it is very unlikely that you will be able to get names but only anonymized records identified by a unique key.
Dear Luca.. even with data from, say, 50 years ago? Anyway, I can sign (or my University if required) any confidentiality agreement that the source of these data can ask. I specifically need names and occupations by city. I can deal with anonymized records but in this way: that the same name be always replaced by the same token. I mean for example, that if John=n1 and Smith=s2 then, "John Smith" always be "n1 s2", and so on, otherwise I will be unable to do what I need.
I do not know if you are looking for extracted data or are willing to extract it yourself. There is public access to all US Census records up to 1940 (e.g. for 1940 at https://1940census.archives.gov/getting-started/). You can extract name and occupation manually after choosing any state and city.
Dear Carl, thank you very much for the link. I just looked at it and I realize that the database is composed of scanned images from handwritten papers (obviously since the year). I will see if I can train an OCR to process all this. Thanks again and best regards.
