I am drafting a paper on the number of hospital beds in the different States of the US and find that half of US States have bed provision equivalent to the less developed countries. This leads to the question as to whether those without health insurance or who cannot afford co-payments are receiving Covid-19 treatment if they are acutely ill?
Got the answer thank you. On the 3rd April the US government agreed to pay Covid-19 treatment costs for the uninsured.
Almost 50% of the people in USA are either not insured or have too high out-of-pocket costs. A visit to Emergency department may cost $ 3000-3500.
This is why many people are very late in the illness before they seek medical advice during COVID-19 pandemic.

Patients are cared for in hospitals but are asked for guarantees, and then bills for services are sent to them. In a recent report, I read that there were patients who had received bills for 35,000 usd. I don't know if anything has changed in the last days .
I got tested 2 weeks ago in emergency, though I had insurance but still normally there is a big co-payment to pay when you visit emergency. But in case of Corona, my insurance company told me that for Corona test, there will be no co-payment also. SO it was zero payment.
