So many different species even in mammals! However, most of species consists of similar cell types in a specific tissues. In fact, hard to tell if cells in culture are human-origin or not. The evolution makes it possible for the same tissues of cells express same surface molecules, control metabolism, behave and provide living molecular machinery of cells in a similar manner.

Remember interspecies chimeric embryos at early stages of embryos, so many interspecies grafting experiments in experimental embryology, and even acellular body parts of animal in adult human body. All these suggest appropriate interactions between cell-cell and cell-ECM.

Yes, they are happy to interact each other although their physiology may have slight differences.

To make it even more complicated, it also depends on the decellularization method. How many ECM proteins and signal peptides are preserved? Are they essential for your cell fate? Are the cells originally derived from the decellularized tissue? Sorry I only have more questions...!?

We use SDS for preparing the decellularized livers. Liver after decellularization still maintain the important proteins such collagen, glycosaminoglycans, laminin, and elastin in addition to almost 304 growth factors as tested by growth factor array kit. These preserved growth factors include HGF, VEGF, FGF that play a role in hepatocyte development. As I mentioned we don't use autologus cells, only allogenic and human cells.
