For an example, Will there be any difference in terms of product conversion if I use Cellulase from different sources like Trichoderma reesei, Aspergillus niger, etc. ? I am working on enzymatic hydrolysis to convert cellulose to sugars.
Productivity of process depends on enzyme sources. All the sources cannot produce enzymes with equal activities. Activity of enzymes differ with sources.
the source of enzyme is too important because it defines the place to cut off the substrate. For example cellulase from cell A, may cut cellulose from N terminal between two different oligosaccarid (just hypotaticly!); however cellulose from source B, can cut your cellulose from any different terminal by any other monomers. You may check the "sequence analysis" of the enzyme.
Arun Pandian Chandrasekaran, If you want to know an enzymes efficiency then you might want to identify the substrate to which it is specific after which many parameters (Temperature, pH, Inducers, Purity etc.) can be optimized in order to find out the optimized conditions for maximum efficiency of that particular enzyme.
Hi arun the protein from different sources considerably vary in their activity. Depending on the sources the isolation method and availability of the protein of interest is different from one another.Try to purify the enzyme from the redundant available sources and find out its yield.
