I am using molecular sieves (3A) to maintain my ethanol to 100% purity.

I recently purchased new molecular sieves and decided to wash them in distilled water to remove any impurities, before 'baking' them for reactivation. However, I noticed that the water wash felt somewhat soapy afterwards - even after a very thorough 24 wash.

Is it possible for aluminium to leach out during water absorption in ethanol? This obvious a concern as the ethanol needs to remain food grade.

If so, will I need to distill the ethanol afterwards to remove the potential leeching of aluminium?
