I am analyzing a meta genomic data and I want to comment about the significance of beta diversity for the samples taken from different locations. In order to do that i did Adonis test (seed of 999) and got a p-value of >0.05. My location parameter explained an insignificant similarity. Do I need to do anova after this?
Can I comment about significance on the basis of Adonis test alone?

It may help the readers to better appreciate the results of Adonis test if you also plot the data with the underlying distance statistic. A step-by-setp guide to such statistics is available at: https://chrischizinski.github.io/rstats/adonis/
Adonis is sufficient if you are only testing the null hypothesis that "there are no differences across locations".
What is your research question and how do you generate the best answer for it?
If it takes more than 1 test to do that then do more than 1 test. Best, D. Booth
