I am modelling a steel fibre reinforced concrete beam in Abaqus. I will be using the concrete damage plasticity(CDP) model. I have obtained the engineering stress-strain data from experimental tests. Now, when calculating the damage parameters and inelastic strains, do I need to first convert the engineering stress-strain curve to a true stress-strain curve?

Yes. However working with FRC is a tedious job. Use Bilinear model to predict the performance with more convergence speed.

Yes, In Abaqus (as in most FEA software) the relevant stress-strain data must be input as true stress and true strain data.

It is recommended to use true stress-strain curve instead of the engineering one, it gives a realistic behaviour of the material properties.
