Unfortunately that happens in some countries. You can see kickbaks when labs try to impose some new treatments or protocols. It does not happen with old protocols that have lost patent protection.

I know a number of such cases and this is not an exclusion.

Yes, doctors are definitely profiting from chemo, especially in two cases. Firstly, if they have a cancer which needs chemo according to reference guidelines, secondly, if they are oncologists, because delivering chemos are their job and they are getting their salaries for it. Regarding companies of Big Pharma, so called kickbacks are strictly prohibited by implemented compliance regulations.

Sorry Ladislaus but besides the salary and in spite of regulations, kickbacks are there all the time...and mainly from big pharma.

doctors mostly respect the medical ethics and rare cases may occur , but we should never judge on single or few cases.

To Mosab: I guess you are wrong, physicians having a part of the cost of cancer medication is standardized practice in some places, e.g, the USA, and when this is not done openly, there are surreptitious ways for briberies, for example, payments of trips and registration in congresses, or fees for having an stand in a congress organized by a physician with high economical decision power, or reprints from articles,..

I discussed before that it was reported one of the reasons of the delay in marketing of oral combined hormonal therapies, aka 'the pill', in Japan, this happened there later than in Spain, already approved by Spanish HRAs in 1972, was Japanese practitioners had incomes from making abortions.

Don't want to say this, but the medical head of a major Madrid teaching hospital told me, abot the Medical Specialization of Oncology: 'This is a Mafia'.

Yes it is, because of my criticism, I was blocked from practice, and had my relatives getting out of 'Lex Artis' -state of the art- therapies, about which they refuse to issue reports.

I can say this louder, but not more openly, of course, ethical, fair behavior is an individual decision, even if the surroundings can pressure towards acting properly or not, generalization is always a type of racism, prejudice, lack of respect of the principle of 'Presumption of innocence'.
