Hello, I want to dissolve PCL and PEO with chloroform and ethanol as well as chloroform & DMF solvents combination for electrospinning purposes, but after keeping it overnight some of the polymer settles down at bottom. Can someone explain and suggest better solvent combination?
About dissolving a blend (or mixture) of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with polycaprolactone (PCL) for electrospinning ― You may want to consider a solvent mixture of either tetrahydrofuran (THF), 1,4-dioxane, or N-dimethylformamide (DMF); mixed with either methanol or ethanol.
Can you please explain the reason?
Problem, i am facing is that when i electrospun fibre mat ,,, then, i collect fibres without whipping action which is supposed to be there from needle tip towards collector but i didnt experience it and i collected straight fibre fall from tip to collector . thats why i added DMF to choroform in order to lower evaporation rate of the solvent content, as chloroform is highly volatile solvent. but after adding DMF also, i am experiencing the same problem. Can you understand my query, and in your thoughts, what should i add to chloroform to generate this whipping action which i think, is not there due to too fast evaporation rate?
