i am about to conduct an ultrasonic testing of concrete specimens.
the problem is that, the flaws are the grains themselves ( i want to detect aggregates distribution, position, etc.), but while i am trying to increase working frequency in order to increase sensitivity, dispersion occurs simultaneously.
i wanted to know how dispersion works and how can i decrease dispersion damping to an acceptable level ( for example by decreasing the sample sizes?) .
For concrete specimens, the attenuation is high, so it is not common to improve the sensitivity by increasing the frequency.

I agree with the two answers above. Additionally, you are talking about dispersion, which is the frequency dependence of the wave propagation characteristics (e,g, phase and group velocity). How did you conclude that you do have (significant) dispersion?
it is not a faultat all.
attenuation is usually (stronly) frequency dependent.
There is no frequency dependent attenuation without dispesion (in GOOGLE-Scholar under "local carmer kronig relation" you will find something).
The only point is; very often the dispersion is rather low and what people ovserve might be different things, not connected with dispersion. But for concrete I am not sure, that is why I asked.
