Liquid chlorine is used as a sanitizing agent in washing reusable bottles in the water bottling industry.
Disadvantages-
(1). As a disinfectant and highly photocatalyze agent it suddenly changed in to excitons.
(2).Reactiveness at the cost of excitation is very much high in comparison to Cl powder.
(3).Sudden reactiveness will be harmfull for digestion if intake.
(4).If intake in large quantity,it will be going to deteriorate imbalancing in fugacity of other hydrolysable ions.
Chlorine liquid resulted from dissolving chlorine gas in water or by dissolving calcium or sodium hypochlorite in water. On a large scale, the application of chlorine as gas or chlorinated water for disinfection is much popular. On small scale, dissolving calcium hypochlorite inwater forming chlorinated water with some precipitate of undissolved calcium so you have to discard the precipitate other wise it would cause problems e.g. hardness. In case of using sodium hypochlorite as a source of chlorine you will get high concentration of sodium in the solution which is undesirable in water. Finally, the application of chlorine gas dissolved in water for disinfection is more practicable and economical than using calcium or sodium hypochlorite. Regarding the application of chlorine water that resulted from dissolving chlorine gas in water may need some precaution during preparation for chlorine toxicity. Sodium hypochlorite is much better than calcium hypochlorite as a source of chlorine but you have to rinse the bottle with fresh water to get red of sodium traces.
