I believe that each cell has its own way and mechanism in processing antigens,but there may be a difference between B cells , DC and Macrophages in the steps of processing since B cell uses internalization while DC and macrophages use phagocytosis, hence processed polypeptides may differ according to that..regards
I would not say that every cell, but it is likely that different cell types can process antigens in different ways. In addition to processing, it is very important to emphasize the presentation of antigen. The immune response will not trigger every processing and presentation of the antigen. We have to take into account many factors - costimulation ...... Therefore, due to the different efficacy of APC antigen presentation, it is very important to know where dendritic cells, macrophages and B lymphocytes are located.
In reality, dendritic cells, or affiliated cells, are the main APCs and probably the only competent cells. But it is important to note that there are several subtypes of DCs, and that each subtype has a specific feature. For example: some dendritic cells are able to capture the antigen and process it, other DCs are very perfomant to present the epitopes via class I or class II of HLA. These are very rarely the same DCs that have both features. And what about DCs Lang + or MR +, DCIR +, FDFO3 + ... Each receiver has a specific function. On the other hand, the ability to migrate, that of digesting the extracellular matrix, and many other functions, are not the prerogative of a single family of cells.
