I have few queries. I analyzed total phenolics and total triterpenoids in both aerial and root parts of Scolymus hispanicus from asteraceae family. What I found is that phenolics are higher in aerial parts and triterpenoids are higher in root parts. So the question is why is it like that? can anyone give me a suitable answer for this? It would be highly appreciated if someone send article or any other source because I have to justify it for my thesis.
2ndly I analyzed these chemicals from same plant sample harvested in different time periods and each one gave different amounts of phytochemical. What can be the reason for this as well?

In order to answer you question or understand your problem, one must have to know what kind of methods you have applied and what protocols you have observed. For example, FCR is most commonly followed reagent for the estimation of TPC but unfortunately it is not selective that means sample preparation, calibration curve and even instruments used would effect your results. SO, if you share your methods I can give you interpretation for you observed results
Phenolics are involved in plant defense against light (UV) and also against biotic stresses. This can explain their localisation. In addition they can be involved in plant cell-wall formation by crosslinking hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives (ferulic acid, etc).
The difference in content of phenolics compound may be linked to plant photoperiod, water content, exposure to biotic and abiotic stresses, etc

Triterpenoids are mostly found in volatile oils of plants. I assume u are not working on the essential oil so it is reasonable for the phenolic content to be higher and besides phenolic comps encompasses a large class of compounds.
