Hi Victor Species of the genus Silba are almost exclusively confined to the Old World, the exceptions being an introduced species in California and a species of rather dubious taxonomic status in Central America. The most likely candidate in Mexico would be a member of the genus Neosilba which are well known for attacking fruits and flowers in the Neotropics. Neosilba zadolicha for example has been recorded as attacking the fruits of Ficus insipida.
