In Brazil, we lack infrastructure to handle online classes. Furthermore, not everyone in a household has a smartphone.
The student's attention span is reduced even in universities.
I teach subjects related to programming and math. They are very frustrating, require training and encouragement. The difference between a lecture with peers, machines and at least an instructor are more productive.
Due to commuting problems, some issues are solved remotely but engineering courses should have a great deal of human contact.
I encourage my students to speak about their doubts as if they were in a company, with a percentage of control as well as responsibilities.
Each of the two learning methods has its own advantages and disadvantages. Although I like online learning, the quality of face-to-face teaching is better in normal situations. I think that online teaching supports face-to-face teaching (in normal situation). On the other hand, in emergency situations like the current situation, online teaching is very promising and its quality is better. In conclusion, in my opinion, the teaching method which has the best teaching quality is the “blended teaching”.
Depends. How you use makes a difference. Both have pros and cons. As we are habituated in in-person teaching-learning and if we are not techno-friendly, we may support the traditional one but living in the 21st century, we have to learn modern technologies but important thing is that we shouldn't be techno-slaves.
I believe that face-to-face learning is of higher quality, since it is enriched by teacher-student interaction. This type of learning allows for agile debate in the classroom, among other topics. Today, online learning platforms are seriously lacking. But if it must be recognized that online learning is being a very useful tool in situations such as the present pandemic or distance learning.
Learning is passage time of our knowledge & career with prospect .Face to Face learning is certainly better as it comes in direct contact with our teachers whereby we can express our difficulty & view without any loss of time .
Online learning us to carry out our working as per our timings & what may get the information of the study with other sources also but it may not in any way substitute the importance & advantage of learning FACE TO FACE .
I prefer to face to face learning method but we have to adapt ourselves in the special time level such as the current crisis (Covid-19). Of course, there is a several approach in this issue. For example, some of the training experts believe that face to face learning method suitable to learn basic education in elementary school while some other experts have the exact opposite opinion. In fact, they are raise/propose a comprehensive driven approach.
The importance of distance education is evident in exceptional circumstances, but in reality there is nothing better than face-to-face education as it gives the professor enough space to communicate information and assess the learner.
As an educator, I am convinced that the traditional face-to-face learning is more effective than the virtual learning. Though knowledge can be acquired in any means, the physical appearance of the teacher, the gestures, expressions of care, the compassion are felt in the face-to-face;however, the COVID 19 pandemic has brought tectonic changes in the teaching and learning experiences. We cannot compromise the health and safety of our students, so virtual teaching and learning is the remedy.
Certainly, face-to-face education is the best way to learn students, because it is more interactive, and the importance of a teacher is the missing link in the educational system chain.
Dear Dr. Majeed, the method of indoctrination depends on the university and the professor and the method of teaching. its possible that the education is face to face, but it is of poor quality and it can be electronic and with open exam books. So we don't judge by education through online platforms or universities, but rather from the degree of benefit from the real scientific material.
Learning is impossible without a teacher. Those, learning must be face to face. Of course, online lectures can (and often should) be used. But this is just an addition. The attitude to education as to filling of the student's head by knowledge is very mechanistic and does not take into account that another important process occurs during education - socialization in real world. Online socialization is exactly what the modern youth is doing, buried in the screens of smartphones and laptops. We will see the results soon.
Face to face learning has great impact to increase quality of education. Easily get answer and feedback from teacher in real time, emotional or physical contact, voice, increase the ability to discuss, collabrate, practice and play role live and Network with other students........and so on.. this all has grat impact to increase the quality of education
Dear Dr. Suhad Qasim, Asraa Adnan, Montather Majeed, Omar H. Abdalla, Crisanto Daing, Anwar A. Abdulla, Sura abed, Mahmoud Alghizzawi, Vadim S. Gorshkov, Ramiz Balashirin, Frie Ayalew, Bruce Robin, Thanks to all for your reply.
As an educator, I am convinced that face-to-face teaching is more effective than virtual teaching. Although knowledge can be obtained by any means. Not all student jobs are equally feasible. It is difficult to carry out practical and laboratory work online. However, we cannot jeopardize the health and safety of students. Until such a reality. Regards, Pushkin Sergey Viktorovich
You'll be able to concentrate harder on your learning because there’ll be less distraction than if you were at home.
You can gain greater understanding, stories and real-world examples from teachers and other students
You have a greater chance of completing your course successfully by doing it in a classroom situation. https://headspace.org.au/young-people/face-to-face-vs-online-learning/
(Completion rate of teacher-led classes is almost 5x higher than that of on line learning)
You may feel more comfortable and learn more easily in a familiar, traditional classroom situation.
You can access more information and richer understanding through teacher and other students’ body language and voice.
You have the opportunity to connect with, problem-solve, and network with other students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Face to face is always better. The learner or the teacher feel more comfortable and so does the educator or teacher. Online is an alternative, especially the ongoing tough COVID-19 times. In online, mostly one side instructions are their due to connectivity issues, be it a presentation or a verbal deliberation/lecture. While in facet to face mode, there are always better setups/scenarios for both way learning.
At first online methods might seem inconvenient, but they will surely evolve and mature over the years to come, just as conventional methods have done so over several decades.
What most developing countries suffer from makes this impossible for them to start studying remotely. In most developed countries, this may be possible, but the most important question here is whether students will interact with these systems and whether the law in our Arab countries like Iraq allows such kind of Education and what is the position of the old men of education, thank you ...
I think face-to-face learning is more important than online learning. Because face-to-face learning is more authentic and long lasting. Whereas, in online teachers are not aware of students that either they are attentive, listening carefully or not. In online teachers may not achieve targeted goals.
I'm convinced that the best quality of learning will bring the combined type of learning: online and face to face learning… If the governments are interested to have well-learned professionals…
Why?
Online learning it is good for a have the course can be played anytime from the disk (floppy,…) and face to face can be discussed the course…
Regards,
Laszlo
P.S: so in the direction of the online teaching I have the next remark: it has lot of no-explored features!
Online education, when it is well structured (and it is not the same that remote communication developed through cuarantine pandemics) with rigorous design activities and spaces to enhance learning, is a very strong tool. It allows direct instruction, collaborative work between teacher and student, collaborative work between students, individual manipulation by each student or in groups of students, and to follow that trajectories by logs, related to what kind of trajectories oculd be better. It is possible too with mobile learning and other hybrid strategies.
Between face-to-face and online education, the best outcome comes form indivual differences by personal and cognitive style, and disposition to different learning interactions, due to the history of learning in each person.
Online learning is better than face-to-face for the quality of learning because, if properly structured, helps students to develop critical thinking skills, allows for more objective assessment of students'performance, and students have access to more relevant articles in virtual libraries for learning.
I agree with László Attila Horváth on the combination of the two modes of teaching: face to face and on line. Indeed the problems of each method can be solved (totally or partially) by the other method and vice versa
O viously face to face learning ia quite best then online, might this is we are trained face to face, and online classes these days are very new to us, but so far, face to face is best
Face-face teaching/learning is the best. Online learning may supplement face-face learning, especially for theoretical aspects. Practical classes would not be effective through online courses.
each of them has many advanetagious and disadventagious thing. some lessons has a theoritical context maybe we can do its online but some of them has a practical context so can't do them online.
"face to face students they are more atentive, conected, integrated and more focused"
Any system have strengths and weaknesses but as a teacher face to face is incomparable since the full multi-sensory discipline on the on time teaching and learning is well facilitated and observed.
Understanding what quality means varies between countries. Different education actors and organizations also have their own definitions. However, most tend to agree on three broad principles: the need for relevance, for equity of access and outcome, and for the proper observance of individual rights (UNESCO, 2004)
According to my opinion, it is better to having face to face learning process. To some extent, it is not only merely transfering knowledge, therefore it is about developing learners attitude being a better one..
As experienced, Face-to-Face is the best in delivering lessons wherein i can easily answer queries of my students. Also, i can easily determine if they understand or not the lesson, monitor their progress, and give them a push to finish their tasks in the class.
I teach first year classes and I believe face to face interaction is necessary to truly acclimate freshman to the college classroom experience. I have very interactive activities when I teach and having them on line is not as effective. Thank you.

There is research that shows 'personality' plays a role in the success of online learners. It is an avenue worth looking at.
Kaushal, K.B., Leon, Y.W., & Chun-Yen, C. (2019). The impact of personality on students' perceptions towards online learning. Australasian Journal of Educational Technology, 34(4). https://ajet.org.au/index.php/AJET/article/view/4162/1569
There are advantages and disadvantages with both the methods. Due to Pandemic and social distancing , the only option we have to adopt on line mode.
Researches are required to quantify the advantages of the on line mode of teaching.
Most importantly the requirements and objective of the course. Like anatomy dissection, surgery, Air lines pilot license training , clinical subjects cannot not be conducted on line. For medical profession a blended learning approach can be useful. Are we heading for creating " robots to treat a human" .
Face to face - learning from sensory in term of touch, taste, smell cannot be easily accomplished by online
Let think about sensory learning form sights and listening - computer simulation etc will achieve what face to face cannot - seeing a 3-D model where every students can manipulate. Develop software that allow for self-directed learning (assuming that students already inducted to this form of learning).
From environments aspect
Face-to-face time is limited and offer less flexibility in term of pacing, place, etc. However, the ICT infrastructure has to be ready.
There are many aspects (curriculum nature, the style teacher used to teach, the students self-directed and ICT competency etc) we can evaluate these in a given context against the pro and cons.
Both online learning and face to face learning have their advantages and limitations and both are better for quality learning.online learning may prove inexpensive with passage of time for administrators, students and teachers once agreed upon arrangements are made such as e-learning platform,e content, smart phones, internet connectivity etc. E learning has its own advantages like anytime, anywhere and any learning experience and with minimal cost.while it also facilitates collaboration online but to strengthen the affective domain;it has its own limitations.online learning can provide reinforcement by immediate feedback but the suggestions for improvement made by a teacher as in face to face learning are lacking.Face to face learning prepares students for challenges of life,it inculcates so many qualities like values, adjustment, tolerance, humility, leadership, sociability etc.face to face learning requires more investment in terms of equipped classrooms, teachers and infrastructure. It is a rigid system in terms of time ,place and kind of program.Teachers and students need technology support and not feasible in developing countries like India where every parent can't buy a smart phone for his ward.I am in support of blended learning where there is aright mix of both the components .For example while teaching science and engineering face to face a teacher can use computer simulations for better understanding.
