I believe being thoughtful and intentional in your research design will directly affect ethics. Knowing who your research sample is including their history, protocol, etc and mindfully crafting your questions to obtain the relevant data to answer the research questions.

I would nominate validity in the sense of "measuring what you intend to measure." If your measurement is poor, then it doesn't matter how good your sample or your analyses are.
