Dam-Foundation Interface doubt in a FEM?

Hi there,

In a Finite Element Analysis of a Dam-Foundation system, since the dam (concrete) and the foundation (rock) are two complete different materials, would be necessary add some interface element for a correctly analyses?

I am modeling this problem in the PHASE software from rocscience (RS2).
