I wish to make a fairly complicated knock-in vector and I wish to use a contract agent to do this. While we can create the vector, I would like to explore outsourcing all other aspects of making these animals (including screening).
Does anyone have experience with a company where they would highly recommend their use? After they are made they need to be shipped into a clean facility and I would prefer that they come from a certified ‘clean’ site, akin to JAX.
I would recommend both GenOway and Taconic Artemis for such work. Both companies are very professional, experienced and flexible.
We used inGenious Targeting Laboratory to target our constructs by homologous recombination in mouse stem cells. This company was very competitive (price wise) and they delivered great results in a very reasonable time frame. I highly recommend them.

GenOway is what we used for both knock-in and knock-out mice. Everything worked great and the company was very thorough and helpful.
Do you want the vector, or the animal? When I ran the transgenic facility at Thomas Jefferson University, I'd send people to Vega Biolabs for vector construction.

I would recommend that you do the cloning. Although it will cost you time, it will be much less expensive. I had an experience with Genoway and it was very (too much) expensive (I am coming from a lab where we did everything ourselves...). I would recommend that you use academic facilities because they are as professional if not more than companies, but they are less expensive. You have to be cautious with the idea that the JAX is a clean site: not all their room are considered as clean, so some lines coming from them have to be rederived... It might be a good idea to split the work: for example, you could ask different platforms/services to do the different tasks: ie if you want to make sure that the chimera will enter you animal facility , ask a on site facility to do the blasto injection...
Thanks all. The type of vector we are thinking of is rather technical (Altered FRT sites, 2a translational skip sequences, CreER, etc) yet I wish to target Rosa 26 for this. I think we would have to engineer this ourselves. It is more the downstream aspects of the process. For this mouse I would prefer that the screening be done elsewhere.
I have worked with genOway. My experience with this company is that they are very professional, easy to communicate with and deliver what they promise. The mice had an excellent SPF status and could enter our animal facility right away. I would chose for this company again.

Hi J-N, thank you for the info. I will check the, out. The main thing for this mouse is that we need to outsource the screening too. We will be making some transgenic and some pone told me to check out the IRCM
Went with Ingenious to make a mouse for us. They were very efficient. For transgenics we have decided to have the people over at the IRCM do injections for us (they are super fast)
