In a hospital a physician attended a woman, about 70 years, during the night complaining of coryza (common cold) and this patient was accompanied by his granddaughter, with approximately 25 years of age. There was an exchange of compromising glances between the doctor and granddaughter of the patient and the doctor talked to escort that her grandmother would need to remain under observation for about 4 hours, to be given an intravenous medication (saline solution)

During this period the patient remained hospitalized unnecessarily, the doctor came out with the granddaughter of the patient going to a disco-club.

Most of our Latin-American countries lack electronic health care records, and thus, all documents, including X-rays, should be available at the patient's bedside. There was an instance when the staff noted that X-rays, particularly chest x-rays, would disappear from its "usual place" (beneath the patient's hospital mattress). It was found out that some individuals started making business, setting up an "X-ray Clinic" with fake equipment, and they would pretend that radiographs were being obtained (with all the customary dynamic maneuvers, hold your breath, stand firm, etc); then they would randomly (or sometimes not so randomly) pick an X-ray that would at least match the individual's habitus, and charge for it! Outrageous!
