Could you please help me to short out the problem to perform clevage and polyadenylation assay?

I am working on Schizosaccharomyces pombe as model system organism.We have some mutants of m-RNA processing machinery genes.We want to check that these genes are defective in cleavage or polyadenylation or not .So we trying to setup the clevage assay but could not get suceeded because there is a stability problem of invitro synthesized cyc1 precursor RNA. It start degraded immediately. I want some guidelines regarding this experment if possible.How could I setup this experiment for clevage and polyadenylation
