It can just be a fortuitous even. You should not try to compare GC and LC because their principles as well as the targeted compounds in both cases are quite different.

No - It is not comparable. May I ask you why you ask that - do you want to use information from both instruments to do some analysis?

Retention time between those two analytical equipment cant be the same as both instruments used different column for the analysis.

@ Paul Coulerie - I just stopped with mere identification of phytoconstituent present in my plant  (using standards)and i proceed with main study. While i started writing my Phd dissertation , this question came in my mind. So I started searching for the answer.  Thanks .

LC: Separation depends on polarity of compound.

GC: Depends on volatility.

why do you need retention time of the substance? even in two different HPLC system you might also have different RT of the same compound.

It depends on the stationary and mobile phases used. While it is technically possible to experiment and bring about such a situation, the chances of it happening using standard procedures is very remote.
